The Things You Can Read: World Book Night Countdown: 3 Weeks

The Things You Can Read welcomes you and thanks you for your readership. We, here at The Things You Can Read, ask your help, if you visit our site regularly, please follow us either via email or Google Friend Connect. Launched on June 7, 2012, our site has already attracted a great deal of attention. One of the goals of the site is to feature reviews of Children's Picture Books, Young Adult novels and Adult Literary Fiction/Nonfiction. A second goal for the blog is to be a resource for teachers of English and writing--with examples of student created writing, writing tips, resource links, and the opportunity to pick the brain of a seasoned English teacher. To spice things up...every now and then, we'll also include random quotes and thoughts on education and life in general, but our ultimate goal is to reach out into the blogosphere and be a "Book Whisperer" and "Writing Whisperer" to children and adults of all ages. Thank you for your readership. Here is to a lifetime filled with reading and writing.

World Book Night Countdown: 3 Weeks

Countdown to World Book Night: 3 Weeks to Tuesday, April 23

Details about the first of the Monday, April 22, Kick Off Celebrations are now on WBN's Facebook page. Each event features a WBN author, and the venues run from a club in Portland, Ore., to Mike Perry's hometown library to the Barnes & Noble Union Square store in New York City. As times are finalized and a few surprises get added, keep checking here. To read more about the planning for the kick-off, see WBN U.S. executive director Carl Lennertz'sblog posting. The national giver map went up yesterday, and the regional maps go up on Facebook Monday, April 1, 2013. Customizable Giver Thank You Certificates have been added to the bookseller and library sections of WBN Resources.

Here is what was sent out to Book Givers:

There are three weeks left until World Book Night 2013 - and all is good. Over the next ten days, you should be hearing from your pick-up location with information about when you'll be able to pick up your box of books. All box pick-ups will be during the week prior to April 23rd (from Monday, April 15 through Monday, April 22). We will also email you and keep you posted on all sorts of news - and yes, we'll send along the location name again closer to the date, just as a reminder. As always, be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for updates and other information. This week, we're posting regional maps of givers across the country--four new ones each day!
